Jordan Temple Missionary Baptist Church was organized on January 2, 1973, by the late Rev. Willie F. Jordan, Sr., with a mission of eleven members. The first address of the church was 1532 South Pulaski Road, Chicago, Illinois. Within three years the membership out grew the space, and the church moved to our current location at 900 North Lockwood, Chicago, Illinois.
In June of 1974, Rev. Jordan became seriously ill and required major surgery, but God delivered him and renewed his strength. Pastor Jordan was able to add hundreds of souls to the Body of Christ, through anointed preaching of salvation and the Word of Jesus Christ. On January 12, 1993, Pastor Jordan with wings like an eagle, flew into eternal life, acknowledging his call to be with the Lord forever.
In February of 1993, Reverend Stephen E. Richardson was elected Pastor. He was challenged and eager to keep the church moving forward and to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ, and to build the Kingdom of God.
In January of 1996, Reverend Richardson was diagnosed with cardiomiopathy, an incurable heart disease and was placed on the nationwide heart transplant list. He continued to minister from God’s sacred desk each Sunday until August of 1996, when his failing health caused him to be hospitalized for three and a half months. On November 11, 1996, Reverend Richardson was the recipient of a new heart. By the grace of God he returned to the pulpit with a fresh anointing and provoking Word that has caused hundreds of people to surrender their life to Christ, and to renew their minds and lifestyles. Jordan Temple is now in the privileged position of witnessing the miracle wonder-working power of God transitioning people from darkness to the marvelous light and from defeat to victory each Sunday morning.
In January 2003 we purchased a new 12,500 one story building in Hillside, Illinois which serves as our Christian Education and Development Facility, and provides us with the opportunity to expand in the future.
